INTERNATIONAL PHOTO CALL
EUROPE_WORLD

FROM EUROPE TO THE WORLD, NECESSARY AND WIDESPREAD NETWORKS PHOTOGRAPHING CITTASLOW
FROM THE REALITY OF THE CITY AND THE TERRITORY TO THE IMAGINARY SPECIAL SESSION: LOCAL AND TRADITIONAL FOOD

Professional and amateur photographers are asked to imagine, interpret and represent the concept of necessary and widespread networks in Europe and between Europe and the world. Networks that are the basis of the organization of the Europe/Europe - world system, shared and concretely interpreted by Cittaslow International: exchange relationships, participatory processes, common paths and objectives, positive structures.

Not isolated and disconnected segments, but closely connected realities capable of spreading the culture of good living through research, experimentation, and the application of solutions for the organization of the city.

IDENTITY, MEMORY, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND INCLUSION, COMMUNITY AND ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP, FOOD SECURITY AND PROTECTION.

The aim is to stimulate the visual exploration of these concepts, calling photographers to investigate the plurality of meanings and images that can represent them, in a more or less real, conceptual or abstract way, through the eye of the photographer himself and the lens of his camera.

We are looking for images that are a model, a metaphor, an ontological conception of the concept of necessary networks typical of the cities of good living promoted by CITTASLOW INTERNATIONAL.

From a photographic point of view, the main theme of the call can be developed through different meanings depending on the context, but in general, producing photographs that interpret a connection of interconnected elements, intertwined threads, models of organization.

In fact, the concept of network underlines the importance of interactions in different contexts ranging from information technology to ecology, from society to physical and territorial infrastructures, from traditional trades to those related to ai, from communication to neural networks, from the physical to the non-physical object. The representation of these networks, and of the "reticularity" that derives from them, is the basis of this call.

PRIZES ARE AWARDED TO THE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT BEST REPRESENT THE CONCEPT OF NECESSARY NETWORKS CONCEIVED, TESTED AND IMPLEMENTED IN EUROPE AND BETWEEN EUROPE AND THE WORLD.

THE CALL ALSO OFFERS A SPECIAL SESSION:

LOCAL AND TRADITIONAL FOOD

The concept of local and traditional food as the key to the development of territories is linked to several dimensions, including the local economy, environmental sustainability, preservation of culture, health promotion, innovation and resilience, and community involvement.

Participants in the call are invited to highlight the connections between producers, consumers and the surrounding environment, promoting sustainable development through food networks and supply chains.

PRIZES ARE AWARDED TO THE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT BEST REPRESENT THE FUNCTION OF TRADITIONAL LOCAL FOOD AS A CATALYST FOR MORE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THAT CAN PROMOTE A SYNERGISTIC CONNECTION BETWEEN ECONOMY, ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE AND HEALTH AT THE LOCAL LEVEL.
Themes developed by the Cittaslow network in Europe and between Europe and the world.

The photo call (main theme and special session) will be widely disseminated and promoted through the press office and social media, through the international channels of Cittaslow, LA CASA DELLA Fotografia di Roma, and their partners.
